Job Summary
A welcoming primary school in Ealing is seeking a compassionate and experienced Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated support to two students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. - Provide one-on-one and small-group support for two students with ASD and SEMH
- Collaborative and supportive school team
Responsibilities and Duties
- Provide tailored support to meet the individual needs of two students with ASD and SEMH in line with their Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Assist the students in accessing the curriculum, promoting engagement and positive learning experiences.
- Implement strategies to support emotional regulation, communication, and social interaction.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and encouraging environment to support the students' academic and personal development.
- Collaborate with the class teacher, SENCo, and other professionals to ensure cohesive support.
- Monitor and document student progress, reporting on achievements and challenges.
- Assist in managing behaviour using positive reinforcement and other effective strategies.
- Support the students during transitions and unstructured times, such as playtime and lunch breaks.
- Contribute to the wider school ethos of inclusion and positivity.
Qualifications and Skills
- Previous experience working with children with ASD and SEMH is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of strategies to support SEN students, including communication and behaviour management techniques.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Patience, empathy, and adaptability to meet the varying needs of the students.
- Commitment to promoting inclusion and equality in the classroom.
- Enhanced DBS check and legal right to work in the UK.
