Key Responsibilities:
- Planning and delivering engaging lessons on a range of religious and philosophical topics: Design and deliver a stimulating and thought-provoking curriculum that covers a variety of religious traditions, philosophical concepts, and ethical issues. Utilize a range of teaching methods to cater to diverse learning styles and engage students in meaningful discussions.
- Encouraging critical thinking and debate: Foster an environment where students feel comfortable exploring different perspectives, challenging ideas, and developing their own critical thinking skills. Encourage respectful dialogue and debate on religious and ethical issues.
- Supporting students' spiritual and moral development: Help students develop their own sense of morality, values, and beliefs. Encourage them to reflect on their own experiences and perspectives in relation to the wider world.
- Collaborating with colleagues to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment: Work collaboratively with other teachers and support staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and respected.
Ideal Candidate:
- Qualified Teacher with QTS: Hold a recognized teaching qualification and demonstrate a strong understanding of the National Curriculum for Religious Studies.
- Strong subject knowledge in Religious Studies: Possess a deep understanding of different religious traditions, philosophical concepts, and ethical issues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills: Communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and parents. Demonstrate empathy, respect, and a genuine interest in the well-being of young people.
- Passionate about inspiring young minds: Inspire students to engage with religious and philosophical questions, fostering their curiosity and love of learning.
- Committed to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment: Create a safe and welcoming space where all students feel valued, respected, and supported to explore their own beliefs and values.
