Responsibilities and Duties
- Provide tailored one-on-one and group support for students with complex needs, ensuring they can access and engage with the curriculum effectively.
- Assist students in daily activities, promoting independence and confidence in their learning journey.
- Develop and implement engaging sensory and learning activities, catering to the specific needs of each student.
- Monitor and document student progress, sharing updates with teachers, the SENDCo, and external professionals as appropriate.
- Work closely with classroom teachers and therapists to deliver individualized support strategies and intervention plans.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment that encourages students to thrive socially, emotionally, and academically.
- Support students during transitions and unstructured times, fostering consistency and comfort throughout the school day.
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly those with ASD or complex learning needs.
- A creative, proactive, and empathetic approach to supporting students, with the ability to adapt to individual needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals.
- A patient and calm demeanor, with the ability to remain composed in challenging situations.
- Enhanced DBS check and the legal right to work in the UK.
