This role is vital to the smooth running of the school, providing practical and operational support across a range of areas, including assisting with classroom activities, maintaining school facilities, and supporting staff and students as needed.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assist teaching and support staff in delivering engaging and effective lessons to students with special educational needs (SEN), including SEMH, autism, speech and language difficulties, and moderate learning disabilities.
  • Support students during activities, transitions, and break times to ensure their safety and well-being.
  • Help to prepare and maintain classrooms, resources, and equipment to support an effective learning environment.
  • Provide administrative and practical assistance to staff, including photocopying, setting up activities, and organizing materials.
  • Assist with the care and supervision of students during off-site trips, school events, and other activities.
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming school environment by performing light maintenance and other practical tasks as needed.
  • Build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents, contributing to the school’s inclusive and nurturing ethos.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Previous experience working in a school or similar environment is beneficial but not essential.
  • A proactive, flexible, and can-do attitude to support the diverse needs of the school community.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with staff, students, and families.
  • Patience, empathy, and an understanding of working with children with SEN.
  • Basic IT skills and the ability to perform administrative tasks efficiently.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Enhanced DBS check and the legal right to work in the UK.
