The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging drama lessons, directing plays, and fostering a love of theatre in students of all abilities. Key Responsibilities:
- Planning and delivering engaging drama lessons: Design and deliver a stimulating and engaging drama curriculum that covers a wide range of drama skills, theatrical styles, and performance techniques. Utilize a variety of teaching methods to cater to diverse learning styles and engage students in practical activities, improvisation, and creative exploration.
- Directing and producing school plays and performances: Lead and inspire students in the creation and performance of school productions, providing guidance and support in all aspects of theatre production, from acting and directing to set design and technical production.
- Encouraging creativity and self-expression: Foster a creative and supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable taking risks, exploring their imaginations, and expressing themselves through drama.
- Supporting students' development as performers and technicians: Provide students with opportunities to develop their skills in acting, directing, stage management, lighting, sound, and costume design. Encourage students to participate in drama clubs, workshops, and competitions.
- Collaborating with other departments to create cross-curricular projects: Work collaboratively with other teachers to integrate drama into other subject areas, enriching the curriculum and providing students with opportunities to apply their drama skills in different contexts.
Ideal Candidate:
- Qualified Drama Teacher with QTS: Hold a recognized teaching qualification and demonstrate a strong understanding of the National Curriculum for Drama.
- Passionate about theatre and performance: Possess a genuine enthusiasm for theatre and performance, with a desire to inspire and motivate young people to explore their creative potential.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills: Build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents. Communicate effectively and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.
- Creative and innovative approach to teaching: Bring creativity and innovation to your teaching, utilizing a range of drama techniques and approaches to engage and inspire students.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students: Create a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages student participation, effort, and achievement.
