Responsibilities and Duties

  • Plan and deliver engaging, tailored lessons that meet the unique needs of students with a range of SEN, including autism, speech and language delays, and complex learning needs.
  • Collaborate closely with teaching assistants and other support staff to create an inclusive and nurturing classroom environment.
  • Monitor and assess student progress regularly, adjusting teaching strategies to ensure every child achieves their potential.
  • Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in partnership with the SENDCo and parents.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, encouraging confidence, independence, and a love for learning.
  • Liaise with parents, carers, and external professionals to provide holistic support for each child’s educational and personal development.
  • Participate actively in staff meetings, training, and the wider school community, contributing to the school’s ethos of inclusion and excellence.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a proven track record in teaching students with SEN.
  • Strong understanding of SEN strategies, inclusive teaching practices, and behavior management techniques.
  • A patient, empathetic, and creative approach to teaching, with the ability to inspire and motivate students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling collaboration with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • A commitment to professional development and a passion for advancing inclusive education.
  • Enhanced DBS check and the legal right to work in the UK.
