Job Summary

An Outstanding Primary School in Ealing is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team on a full-time, fixed-term basis. The successful candidate will work closely with a student on a one-to-one basis, as well as support the class teacher in fostering a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide one-to-one support for a pupil with additional learning needs, including Autism, ADHD, or other developmental challenges.
  • Work alongside the class teacher to adapt learning materials and activities to meet the pupil’s specific needs.
  • Support the pupil’s social integration and engagement with peers during group activities.
  • Observe and track the pupil’s progress, providing regular feedback to the class teacher, SENCO, and parents.
  • Assist in maintaining a positive and inclusive classroom environment for all students.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students by adhering to the school’s safeguarding and child protection policies.

Qualifications and Skills

Essential:

  • Experience working with children with SEN in a school or childcare setting.
  • Strong understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other learning difficulties.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to establish rapport with children.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team.

Desirable:

  • Relevant qualifications in education or child development (e.g., Level 3 Teaching Assistant Diploma).
  • Knowledge of behavior management strategies.
  • Understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) or Primary School curriculum.
