Responsibilities and Duties
- Assist in planning and delivering tailored support for students with SEN under the guidance of the class teacher.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to help students access the curriculum effectively.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with students, fostering their social, emotional, and academic development.
- Help implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with the SENCo, teachers, and therapists.
- Support the emotional wellbeing of students and help them develop independence and confidence.
- Monitor and document student progress, providing feedback to the teaching team.
- Assist with classroom activities, including behaviour management and resource preparation.
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
- Participate in school-wide initiatives, staff training, and development sessions to stay informed on SEN best practices.
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience working with students with SEN in a school or similar setting is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of SEN strategies, behaviour management, and inclusive education.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and creativity to effectively support students with diverse needs.
- Commitment to professional development and a passion for supporting SEN learners.
- Enhanced DBS check and legal right to work in the UK.
