Key Responsibilities:

• Curriculum Delivery:
  • Plan, deliver, and evaluate engaging and stimulating Design Technology lessons across the curriculum, catering to Key Stage 3 (Years 7-8) and potentially Key Stage 4 (Years 9-11) in line with the National Curriculum.
  • Differentiate your teaching to meet the diverse needs of all learners, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to achieve their full potential.
  • Create a stimulating and supportive learning environment that encourages student participation, creativity, and a love of learning.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods, including design challenges, practical workshops, group projects, presentations, and technology integration, to cater to diverse learning styles and ensure all students can develop their design and practical skills effectively.
• Curriculum Development:
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the Design Technology curriculum, ensuring it aligns with the school's vision, national requirements, and the latest advancements in design education.
  • Stay abreast of current trends and best practices in teaching Design Technology, implementing innovative approaches to enhance student learning (e.g., integrating new technologies, sustainability principles, and design thinking methodologies).
• Workshop Management:
  • Maintain a safe and organized workshop environment, ensuring that all health and safety regulations are adhered to and that equipment and materials are properly maintained.
  • Provide guidance and support to students in the use of tools, machinery, and materials, ensuring their safety and well-being in the workshop.
• Assessment and Evaluation:
  • Design and implement effective assessment strategies to monitor student progress in design and practical skills, utilizing both formative and summative assessments.
  • Provide students with clear, constructive feedback that helps them improve their design skills, technical abilities, and problem-solving strategies.
  • Analyze student data to identify areas of strength and areas for improvement, informing your teaching practice and ensuring that all students make progress.

The Ideal Candidate:

• A qualified Design Technology teacher with a demonstrable track record of success in engaging students: Possess a recognized teaching qualification and demonstrate a successful track record of teaching Design Technology at the secondary level, with a passion for inspiring and motivating students.
• Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for inspiring a love of design and problem-solving in students of all abilities: Demonstrate a deep understanding of design principles, technical skills, and manufacturing processes. Share your passion for the subject and inspire students to explore the exciting world of design and technology.
• Strong pedagogical skills and the ability to deliver innovative and effective lessons that cater to diverse learning styles: Employ a variety of teaching strategies to engage students with different learning styles and abilities, ensuring that all students have the opportunity to succeed.
