Responsibilities and Duties

  • Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with the SENCo, parents, and external professionals.
  • Utilize innovative teaching methods and resources to engage students with diverse learning styles.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, adapting strategies to ensure individual growth and success.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group interventions to address specific learning goals.
  • Create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes confidence and independence.
  • Collaborate with teaching assistants, therapists, and other staff members to deliver holistic support.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers, providing regular updates on student progress and addressing concerns.
  • Participate in staff training, meetings, and school activities to contribute to the school’s ethos and vision.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a strong background in teaching English at GCSE and A-Level.
  • Experience working with students with additional needs, including autism, speech and language difficulties, or other learning disabilities.
  • Proficiency in adapting teaching methods to individual learning requirements.
  • Patience, empathy, and creativity, with strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.
  • Enhanced DBS check and the legal right to work in the UK.
