Job Summary
A well-established specialist school in Harrow is seeking a dedicated and experienced KS2 Primary Teacher to join their team. This role involves teaching a small class of students with special educational needs (SEN), creating an inclusive and engaging environment that supports their academic and personal growth.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Plan and deliver creative, differentiated lessons designed to meet the specific needs of KS2 students with SEN, such as autism, ADHD, and speech and language difficulties.
  • Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with the SENCo, therapists, and parents to ensure each student’s unique needs are met.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching strategies, including sensory activities and hands-on learning, to engage students and enhance understanding.
  • Create a nurturing, inclusive classroom environment that promotes confidence, independence, and a love for learning.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting teaching methods and lesson plans to ensure every child reaches their full potential.
  • Collaborate closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and other staff to deliver holistic support for students.
  • Foster strong partnerships with parents and carers, providing regular updates on progress and working together to support student development.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities, school initiatives, and training sessions to enhance your knowledge and skills in SEN education.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification, with experience teaching KS2 students.
  • Proven experience working with students with SEN, preferably within a specialist or inclusive setting.
  • A strong understanding of SEN teaching methods, behavior management strategies, and primary education pedagogy.
  • Patience, creativity, and empathy to inspire and support students with diverse learning needs.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, enabling effective collaboration with colleagues and parents.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and a passion for inclusive education.
  • Enhanced DBS check and the legal right to work in the UK.
