Key Responsibilities:
- Planning and delivering engaging biology lessons across all key stages: Design and deliver a stimulating and comprehensive biology curriculum that covers a wide range of topics, from cell biology and genetics to ecology and evolution. Utilize a variety of teaching methods to cater to diverse learning styles and engage students in interactive activities, practical experiments, and fieldwork investigations.
- Conducting practical experiments and fieldwork: Provide students with opportunities to engage in hands-on scientific inquiry, conducting experiments, analyzing data, and drawing conclusions. Lead fieldwork investigations that allow students to explore the natural world and apply their knowledge in real-world contexts.
- Encouraging scientific inquiry and critical thinking: Foster a spirit of curiosity and inquiry in students, encouraging them to ask questions, explore hypotheses, and develop their critical thinking skills.
- Supporting students' preparation for science exams: Provide effective guidance and support to students preparing for GCSE and A-Level Biology exams, ensuring they have the knowledge and skills they need to succeed.
- Collaborating with other science teachers to create a cohesive and engaging science curriculum: Work collaboratively with other science teachers to ensure a cohesive and engaging science curriculum that fosters a love of science and prepares students for further study and careers in STEM fields.
Ideal Candidate:
- Qualified Biology Teacher with QTS: Hold a recognized teaching qualification and demonstrate a strong understanding of the National Curriculum for Science.
- Passionate about science and the natural world: Possess a genuine enthusiasm for biology and the natural world, with a desire to inspire and motivate young people to explore the wonders of science.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills: Build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents. Communicate effectively and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong practical laboratory skills: Confidently and safely conduct practical experiments and demonstrations, providing students with a hands-on learning experience.
- Ability to inspire curiosity and a love of learning: Create a positive and engaging learning environment that encourages student participation, effort, and achievement.
