Job Summary

A forward-thinking primary school in Hackney is seeking a skilled Speech and Language Teaching Assistant to work with students facing communication challenges. This role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting children’s development and fostering positive communication skills.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Provide one-on-one and small-group support for students with speech and language difficulties, helping them to overcome barriers to communication.
• Implement tailored speech and language exercises, tracking progress and making adjustments as needed.
• Assist in the preparation of resources and activities to enhance communication skills.
• Work closely with the SENCo, class teachers, and external speech and language therapists to ensure consistent support.
• Foster a positive, inclusive environment that encourages students to build confidence and develop their communication abilities.
• Maintain detailed records of student progress and contribute to reviews and meetings regarding their development.
• Act as a role model for students, promoting patience, empathy, and positive communication at all times.

Qualifications and Skills

• Experience working with children with speech and language difficulties, ideally in an educational setting.
• A patient and nurturing approach, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• A commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
• Enhanced DBS check and the legal right to work in the UK.
