Responsibilities and Duties

  • Plan and deliver creative, engaging, and differentiated lessons to meet the diverse needs of students with SEN.
  • Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with the SENCo, therapists, and families.
  • Create a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment to foster academic and personal growth.
  • Use varied teaching methods and resources to support individual learning styles and abilities.
  • Monitor, assess, and document student progress, adapting strategies to maximize achievement.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and other support staff to provide a holistic educational experience.
  • Build strong relationships with parents and carers, maintaining open communication to support student development.
  • Participate in school initiatives, staff training, and development sessions to remain informed of SEN best practices.
  • Contribute to the school’s ethos of inclusion, positivity, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching students with SEN, ideally in a specialist or inclusive school setting.
  • Strong knowledge of SEN strategies, behaviour management, and inclusive teaching methods.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Creativity, empathy, and patience to inspire and support students with varied needs.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and a passion for SEN education.
  • Enhanced DBS check and legal right to work in the UK.
