Responsibilities and Duties

• Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated English lessons tailored to meet the unique needs of SEN students, fostering a love for reading, writing, and communication.
• Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with the SENCo, parents, and external professionals.
• Utilize innovative teaching methods and resources to support students with diverse learning styles and needs.
• Monitor and assess student progress, adapting strategies to ensure individual growth and success.
• Provide one-on-one and small group interventions to address specific learning goals, ensuring every student achieves their potential.
• Create a safe, supportive, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages confidence, creativity, and independence.
• Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and other staff members to deliver holistic support.
• Communicate effectively with parents and carers, providing regular updates on student progress and addressing any concerns.
• Participate actively in staff training, meetings, and the wider school community to contribute to the school’s ethos and vision.

Qualifications and Skills

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a specialization or significant experience in SEN education.
• Proven track record of teaching English, ideally to students with SEN in a secondary school or specialist setting.
• Strong understanding of SEN strategies, inclusive teaching practices, and behaviour management techniques.
• Patience, empathy, and creativity, with the ability to adapt teaching to individual needs.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals.
• Commitment to professional development and a passion for empowering students with additional needs.
• Enhanced DBS check and the legal right to work in the UK.
