Job Summary

An Outstanding Primary School in Ealing is looking for a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time, fixed-term basis. The role will involve working closely with a student on a one-to-one basis, as well as supporting the class teacher in creating a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • One-to-One Support: Provide personalized assistance to a student with additional learning needs, such as Autism, ADHD, or other developmental challenges.
  • Adapt Learning Materials: Collaborate with the class teacher to modify lesson plans, activities, and resources to accommodate the student’s individual needs.
  • Social Integration: Support the student’s social development by encouraging interaction with peers during group activities.
  • Progress Monitoring: Track and assess the student’s progress, providing regular updates to the class teacher, SENCO, and parents.
  • Inclusive Classroom Support: Assist in maintaining a positive, inclusive environment for all students.
  • Safeguarding: Ensure the safety and well-being of students by adhering to the school’s safeguarding and child protection policies.

Essential Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience: Previous experience working with children with SEN in a school or childcare setting.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other learning difficulties.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to engage with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Personal Attributes: Patience, empathy, and the ability to build strong relationships with children.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively within a team, contributing to the overall success of the classroom.

Desirable Qualifications & Skills

  • Relevant qualifications in education or child development (e.g., Level 3 Teaching Assistant Diploma).
  • Experience with behavior management strategies.
  • Familiarity with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) or Primary School curriculum.
