A highly supportive specialist primary school is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled KS1 Primary Teacher to lead a small class of students with special educational needs (SEN). Responsibilities and Duties
- Plan and deliver creative, differentiated lessons that meet the individual needs of KS1 students with SEN, including autism, speech and language difficulties, and other learning challenges.
- Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with the SENCo, therapists, and parents to support each child’s progress.
- Use a range of teaching strategies, sensory activities, and visual aids to ensure lessons are accessible and engaging for all students.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that promotes confidence, social development, and a love for learning.
- Monitor and assess student progress, adapting teaching methods to ensure every child achieves their potential.
- Work closely with teaching assistants and other support staff to provide consistent and effective support for students.
- Build strong relationships with parents and carers, maintaining regular communication to share progress and collaborate on learning strategies.
- Participate in staff training sessions, school initiatives, and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills in SEN education.
Qualifications and Skills
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification, with experience teaching KS1 students.
- Proven experience working with students with SEN, ideally in a specialist or inclusive setting.
- A strong understanding of SEN teaching strategies, early years pedagogy, and behavior management techniques.
- Patience, empathy, and creativity to support students with diverse learning needs.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills to work effectively with colleagues, students, and families.
- A commitment to ongoing professional development and a passion for making a difference in the lives of young learners.
- Enhanced DBS check and the legal right to work in the UK.
