We are now looking for a dedicated and compassionate Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our passionate team and provide personalized support to our diverse learners.

Role Overview:

As an HLTA, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality support for students with a variety of needs, including Autism, ADHD, profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD), and other complex conditions. Working closely with teachers and support staff, you will lead lessons, deliver interventions, and provide targeted assistance to individual students or small groups, helping them achieve their goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead lessons and interventions in the absence of the class teacher, ensuring continuity of learning.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support, adapting teaching strategies to meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Design and deliver differentiated learning activities that are accessible for all students.
  • Monitor student progress, maintaining clear records and providing regular feedback to teachers, parents, and the SENCO.
  • Foster a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student independence and confidence.
  • Implement effective behavior management strategies to maintain a focused and supportive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with the SENCO and external professionals to support individual learning plans (ILPs).
  • Adhere to safeguarding policies, ensuring the safety and well-being of all students at all times.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience working in a specialist SEN setting or in a similar role.
  • HLTA qualification or equivalent, with a deep understanding of teaching strategies for students with complex needs.
  • Patience, empathy, and a calm demeanor when working with students with Autism, ADHD, or PMLD.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage responsibilities and respond to students' needs in a dynamic environment.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Experience supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, PMLD, or other similar conditions.
  • Knowledge of behavior management techniques and experience tailoring teaching methods for diverse learning needs.
  • Additional qualifications, such as SEN-specific training or First Aid certifications.
